Sidney and Percy Kirk continued to be revolutionary in their eagerness to make waves in the British optical industry, and in 1932 Sidney set off from London to Brazil en route for Buenos Aires.

We believe that he went to South America to buy a special type of quartz that was found on the beaches of Brazil and used to make high quality glass lenses!
