Traveling around the world meeting opticians might look easy from where you are
sitting but some days are better than others....and today was amazing.
I got up at 5.30am and strolled through Gastown to catch my ride.
Like an excited schoolboy I climbed into the Harbour Air sea plane and sat
behind the pilot. As the sun came up.........
Spent the morning in Victoria with some great opticians but today's blog
is more about modes of transport than optics.
After lunch over-looking the harbour, I took the taxi across to Fisherman's Wharf
And this is where I go all David Attenborough on you... yep, wait for it.......
I was watching the harbour seals being fed fish by kids
when they were joined by two sea otters. So here is the scene; six harbour seals,
two sea otters and a flock of sea gulls all trying to catch the fish that the tourists
One brave seagull landed for a second on the water to grab a fish and a sea otter
from under the surface and grabbed it round the throat in front of my eyes.
Enough wildlife action for one day you might think but no.....there's more.
Delighted with the day's events I climbed back into the plane.
My only disappointment had been that I was in Vancouver a couple of weeks
before the whales arrive but, as we flew back, a pod of obliging orca welcomed
us home, clearing the water in a display that pleased our pilot so much
he turned back to watch them again.
What a day - I love Vancouver!
