Feeling blue? Some of our favourite blues for this Spring/Summer

OK fellas. It is hard to find classy threads, is it not?
Not so long ago, we were lamenting the fact that you needed to pay top dollar to get decent quality designer clothes but at least it was possible to find quality if you searched hard enough. Right now, there seems to be a race to the bottom……who can produce the cheapest?
Well, we are not playing. We would rather have fewer beautiful items on our hangers than a whole bunch of cheap stuff so here are a few of our favourite things for this season, to be enjoyed while listening to Lloyd Cole’s Perfect Blue

Let’s start at the bottom, well actually the feet…….Trickers. Beautiful, handmade British shoes.

This is the Bourton in Navy Blue. Not only are these stunners gorgeous but they are soooooooo comfortable to wear. Price £395.

Working our way up the body…….slowly……here is another English brand that do socks the way that they should be done. Pantherella have been making soft, sexy socks in England since 1937.

There is not much point in wearing beautiful shoes and skimping in the sock department, so I have picked out these Packington Merino Wool chaps in Petrol and if you are feeling swanky you can even have your initials embroidered on them in a tasteful echo of Touker Souleyman’s cuffs.

Blue jeans – easy to find but hard to find jeans that we love. We are big fans of Edwin jeans and when we get out to the US or Canada we often find ourselves fingering the Naked and Famous – we still like them narrow and a heavy gauge of denim, we’re talking 20+ ounces. I came across these lovelies recently by Tellason Jeans from San Francisco

A great denim store with locations in Toronto and Vancouver is Dutil. Knowledgable staff with a great variety of products.

Having collaborated with John Smedley last year, our choice of tops was easy…..well, it looked easy until we saw the vast choice of beautiful colours available. The Smedley family have been knitting the most astonishing yarns since 1784 in Derbyshire, England and the look and feel of their clothing is second to none.

This is Adrian in Reflective Aqua handmade from Sea Island Cotton. £135 at johnsmedley.com  A figure hugging silhouette, the soft cotton is a pleasure to wear.

Naturally you will need some amazing eyewear to accessorise. You can dive straight into the Oceaninline_154_//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0614/7625/files/kirkandkirk_KaleidoscopeFrank_K4_large.jpg?v=1522148006
or go a little more subtle with a hint of blue like this Victor in Earth from the Kaleidoscope Collection.

Kirk & Kirk Springtime ‘Blue’ Playlist

n

    n

  1. nConway Twitty’s ‘Lonely Blue Boy’ – a wonderful piece of country grit with that 50’s ‘sun going down’ vibe. This song makes me want to wear some blue Alton sunglasses from our Sunglass Collection.n
  2. n

  3. nBlue Jean by David Bowie. Bowie’s threads in the video are very blue and were inspired by the blue colours he felt were prevalent during a tour that took him around the Mediterranean, many years ago. n

    n

  1. nThe Fleetwoods ‘Mr. Blue’. Just a lovely cut. It’s uplifting jazz centre evokes times sitting outside as the sun goes down over the L.A. streets. Definitely one to rock a pair of our Jack Sunglasses to.n
  2. n

n

    n

  1. nBlue Velvet by Bobby Vinton. Simply divine, and found its place in David Lynch’s film that opened with the infamous picket fence shot. One to take in through our Joss frames, which form part of our Spectrum Collection. n
